When you begin to get ready to walk down the aisle, you may start to realize that photographing children can be quite difficult. Getting them to take photos with a genuine smile, having them look relaxed, and getting them to enjoy themselves can quite the task. However, there are a few things you can do to make the entire experience a little easier!

We believe that capturing quality photos of the children present for your big day is of importance! That’s why, here at Krista Lee Photography, as Nashville wedding photographers, we have put together a few points of advice for photographing children at your own wedding. If you are all set to gain some great insight, be sure to continue reading:

  • Create a Kid’s Table

Genuinely happy photos of children happen when they are enjoying themselves, and they don’t have to focus on sitting still for the camera. By providing a kid’s table, you give them their own space, where they will feel comfortable. Providing activities, such as coloring supplies, bubbles, games, or any other child-safe items that will keep them occupied, will also create opportunities for your photographer to capture beautiful photos. The children at your wedding will be able to have fun in their own space, and you will receive stunning photos!

  • Keep Them Busy

When you step in front of the camera, you may not know what to do with your hands. Do you place them by your face, hold your hair, or put them on your hips? Do these poses even look natural or complement your body? Children can feel puzzled, just as you do! It’s best to keep them busy. Give them items that they will enjoy playing with, such as was stated above. For example, bubbles, streamers, ribbons, kid-friendly wedding favors; these can help keep the little ones entertained, and it even adds to the photos.

  • A Distraction

Having a camera pointed at your face can make you feel uneasy, and it is certainly the same with children. If they feel uncomfortable, it will show within your photos, and the happiness that they contribute to your big day will be masked within the pictures. You can keep them distracted so that they don’t have any anxiety about your photographer capturing photos of them. Get your children out on the dance floor, playing with others, and focused on activities, to capture truly genuine photons, and keep their focus off of the camera.

The children that are attending your wedding day will be adding their own celebratory spirit to the event, which should certainly be captured through photography! These are just a few tips to assist you with doing so.
