Kaylyn and Levi booked me last year to shoot their wedding. They seriously might be the most photogenic couple I have ever seen… Kaylyn is strikingly pretty, and Levi is tall and handsome. They make the CUTEST couple… and I just knew we were going to have gorgeous, amazing images from their wedding day!
They decided to tie the knot at historic Belle Meade Plantation, an elegant and sophisticated southern venue in Belle Meade, Tennessee. The weather the entire week leading up to their big day was, eh… you could say iffy. There were constant thunderstorms and severe weather, and every time I looked at the forecast it said rain and storms on Saturday. I was hoping and praying the entire week that it would NOT rain their entire day, as it would just not be the same to do all of the photos and ceremony inside the barn.
We arrived that afternoon and were pleasantly surprised. The weather, although a little muggy, seemed to be holding and the sun was out. WHEW! But, you could see very dark clouds looming the distance and the weather service had called for a tornado watch in Davidson county.
Kaylyn and her girls started getting ready. I just adored the colors they chose for their wedding day. Soft blush pinks with creme hydrangeas and pink peonies. So southern, so elegant… And a PERFECT compliment to Belle Meade Plantation. Kaylyn looked so gorgeous. She had her hair pulled back into a classic updo and had a very sophisticated gown that fit her perfectly! After doing some photos around the grounds, we let the girls head back to the air conditioning and started the boys’ photos. Poor Levi was on crutches for his wedding day. He had suffered a knee injury shortly before their wedding and had to get immediate surgery. He was such a great sport and did his best to make it around the grounds, cane and all. He even managed to walk down the aisle without any assistance!
The rain continued to hold off for their beautiful garden ceremony. After sealing the deal with a kiss, they hurried down the aisle and started immediately with family photos. We got through about 5 minutes of photos, when it happened. The bottom just dropped OUT. Rain began pounding down and Kaylyn and her girls made a mad dash for the barn, lol!
I think we were all a little sad that the rain had set in, as we didn’t get to do as many bride and groom and bridal party photos around the grounds as we had hoped. But all in all, they had a gorgeous ceremony and reception and we did end up getting some amazing night time photos of them after the rain subsided a bit! And hey, they always say rain is good luck, right? 😉
