Michael and Megan : Belle Meade Plantation Winter Wedding

I had the good fortune of meeting Michael and Megan through one of my favorite Nashville wedding planners, Alex Bovee (of Vision in White Events Nashville)! They live in Colorado and decided to do their wedding here in Nashville. I immediately loved them… they were sweet, laid back, and just amazing all around. I was so excited when they decided to book us for their Belle Meade Plantation wedding this winter!

I’m a huge fan of winter weddings. Although doing outdoor photos can sometimes be a bit challenging due to cold or wind, the crisp weather and muted winter landscapes always photograph so well! And I also love how everyone snuggles up for the ceremonies and receptions, it’s cozy and intimate every time.

Michael and Megan had such a beautiful day. Although it was chilly, it was not icy or unbearably cold. They got ready separately, and then drove to Belle Meade Plantation to meet for photos. Initially, they were on the fence about doing a first look before the ceremony. I normally try not to influence anyone one way or the other, as ultimately a wedding day is their day, not mine. But due to an early sunset time and limited night options for formal photos, I urged them to consider a first look while it was still daylight…. So that they could have some daylight photos. I have to say, I’m SO glad they decided to do it. The images of them seeing each other for the first time that day are SOOO beautiful!

They are so adventurous, and were up for anything… So we made our way down into the creek bed for photos (YES the creek… In her dress… How amazing is Megan??!) We then made our way around the property and did photos until the sun set.

The ceremony was candlelit and intimate. Guests lined the historic stable aisles, while they said their vows surrounded by family and friends. Both Michael and Megan’s mothers are deceased, and we loved how they incorporated memorial photos into their day to honor both of them.

The reception was so fun! Guests ate, drank, and danced and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Alex Bovee, their wedding planner, did an amazing job pulling all of the details and colors together. The reception hall was elegant and beautifully decorated! Megan is an avid rock-climber, and had initially joked about having a rock climbing wedding cake. Michael decided to surprise her, and as she prepared to cut the cake and rounded the backside of the cake table, her jaw dropped open as she saw 2 figures climbing the back of the cake. What a great surprise, and what a great evening all the way around.
