Ashley + Colt St. Clair : Wedding in Lost River Cave / Bowling Green, Kentucky.

I don’t even know where to begin with this wedding, honestly.  First of all, I am not sure how I manage to land the sweetest couples on the face of this earth.  Secondly, I just love how they pick the most amazing and unique venues get married at.  I actually had never met Ashley and Coy (Colt) before their wedding day.  They booked me over the phone/email and so we really did not know each other at all before I showed up this past Saturday.  I did know, from talking to them, that they seemed to be very sweet and laid back.  They definitely didn’t prove me wrong.

Lost River Cave is one of my absolute favorite venues to photograph.  It’s mysterious. Beautiful. Legendary. And just so amazingly unique.  Being that Ashley and Colt are both biologists, I don’t think they could have picked a more fitting location.  We started out with a private moment on the bridge (that crossed a ravine).  After spending a few minutes together, they headed down to the Blue Hole, a spot that holds a lot of history and legend.  The oddly colored turquoise waters almost look out of place in a forest that is covered in greenery.  Such a beautiful location.  The mist hung above the water as we took photos.  I mean seriously, folks. Does it get any better than this???  We then headed around the grounds to do photos with the bridal party and family.

Ashley is one of the most easy-going and sweet brides I have met.  She didn’t get stressed at any point during the day, despite the possible impending rain showers, and lots of activity going on around her.  She looked STUNNING in her jewel encrusted gown, and her pool blue eyes photographed so well!  Colt and his guys were also laid back, and super easy to work with.  Ashley and Colt decided to go ahead see each other before the ceremony, just in case we did get some rain showers.  They really wanted to take advantage of the beautiful scenery around Lost River so due to the sketchy forecast we sped up their timeline a bit to do bride and groom photos before the ceremony.

The ceremony was stunning.  It started to rain, so their wedding coordinator moved the altar just inside the mouth of the cave.  They said their vows in front of friends and family, with the sounds of a rushing river in the background.

The reception was also breathtaking.  Lovely table linens accented candlelit floral arrangements that decorated the entire cave.  Guests enjoyed their meals while music played and the sky grew dark. The entire time, a misty haze hung all around the cave and river.

Ashley and Colt, we really enjoyed spending the day with you.  Congratulations, and we wish you a lifetime of happiness!!! Your day was truly beautiful.

Hugs,
Krista + Team
